Convince your network with powerful images! Use both photos or videos of yourself (this is important for the personal link between the donor and you) and also of the Mentelity Games, so people can see what their donations contribute to.

In addition, you can also share a story from a Mentelity Games participant to show the impact the Mentelity Games make on the lives of participants. You can share the stories by linking to our website or copy the story into your own newsletter, email or blog post. On this page you will find the stories of Veerle, Sarah and Arjan, all participants who made great strides in their development during the 2024 edition and beyond.

Tips for your crowdfunding

Crowdfunding - where to start?

Each team participating in the 12 Hour Challenge is committing to the Mentelity Games through a crowdfunding campaign. To this end, the organization will make an action page available for each team on Kentaa's platform. This platform is specially designed to optimally support crowdfunding actions. To help you as a participant of the 12 hour Challenge get started, you will find useful tips on this page for a good start of your crowdfunding campaign.

Tip 1: Make the action page your page
An action page with a few personal photos and text will get you more donations. Upload some photos related to you and your action. And tell why you started the action. Most of your supporters will donate because they like you and are curious about your decision to start this action. Through the three buttons above, you can download pictures, texts and logos of the Bibian Mentel Foundation and the Mentelity Games. With this you can show what you are committed to and what the donations contribute to.

Tip 2: Get a few donations first, then spread the word
Before you start telling everyone about your action, it is wise to have a few donations already. Ask your family and best friends to donate in person first before asking everyone else to donate. After all, good example follows good practice.

Tip 3: Put the link of your action page under all your emails
Put the link of your action page with appeal under your name/signature in all your emails so that everyone you email sees the action. Ask your employer to agree and who knows, maybe your employer will also want to contribute something to your commitment to charity.

Tip 4: Persuade verbally and with the help of mobile phones
At work, school, club, in the canteen and parties, tell people about the action you have started. And then ask them directly to sponsor you and not wait until they get home. Butter to the fish! Everyone can easily view and donate to your action with their mobile phone. Bookmark your action page in your mobile's internet browser and save the URL in your notes on your mobile so you always have it handy.

Tip 5: Send WhatsApp & group messages
Create a WhatsApp group with many of your contacts who know each other. Ask your question and refer to your action page. In this group, thank the people who indicate they are going to donate so that all group members see it. This makes it more likely that others will also get involved and support your action. If one sheep has crossed the dam... Alternatively, you can work with mailing lists in what's app so you can approach more contacts faster.

Tip 6: Make donating as easy as possible
To make paying for the donor super easy, you can also send a tap or payment request where the donor can choose the amount. Choose "Bibian Mentel Foundation" as the description and transfer all received amounts to the foundation in 1x via your action page (you do this via the "donate now" button on your action page).

Tip #7: Donation instead of gift
Birthday coming up soon? Or with the holidays, don't feel like well-meaning but unnecessary gifts? Ask people for a donation instead of a gift. Or organize a get-together, dinner or party and ask all the guests for a donation. You can explain your motivation and charity to the whole group in 1x.

Tip 8: Set up a neighborhood action
Do an action in your neighborhood: bake oliebollen at New Year's Eve and ask for a donation or sell 2nd hand items and add the proceeds to your action. The Christmas market or flea market can also be good options, often there are free booths available for charities. Ask businesses for products to donate and sell them for charity.

Tip 9: Approach companies to sponsor you
Don't forget to also approach companies to sponsor you. Your employer, a good customer, a fine supplier. As a thank you, you can write and distribute a special news release about it with their name in it. Or put their logo as an image on your action page.

Tip 10: Promote your campaign page everywhere with QR
Your page has a unique QR code. Have it scanned from your cell phone, put it in your email signature, or print it out and hang it up at the gym or local pub. Anyone who scans it will be taken directly to your donation form. Super handy for birthdays, for example! On your action page you will find a button for creating a QR code, so it's easy to do.

Tip 11: Post blogs regularly and share them on social media
On your campaign page, you can easily add blog posts. You can then share these on social media to reach new donors. Benefit: Anyone who has already donated will automatically be sent the blog via kentaa. With a blog post, give a status update and regular updates on the status of your action. The power of a message is in repetition. Examples of status updates: if you participate in a sporting event: tell a bit about your preparations. Thank people publicly every time you get a donation. Because others see this, they will be more inclined to do the same. Really, it helps!

Tip 12: Adjust your target amount
For each team, the target amount at the beginning is set at €1,500. Have you reached this goal? Then increase your target amount to keep your donors motivated. You adjust your target amount after logging into kentaa under settings - target amount.

Tip 13: Involve your donors in your final sprint!
Experience shows that the last two weeks of your action are the most donated. That is the final sprint for your campaign. Make sure you start your final sprint and ask your donors for help. They will also want you to reach your target amount.

Tip 14: Hang in there: keep reminding people!
Not everyone will start donating right away. Therefore, send reminder emails or WhatsApp messages if they haven't donated yet. Persistence wins!
